What’s included in monthly bookkeeping services?
Our monthly bookkeeping services can include transaction categorization, bank and credit card reconciliations, general ledger entries, and monthly financial statements. Services are tailored to your business based on its size, transaction volume, complexity, and day-to-day bookkeeping needs. The goal is simple: accurate, organized books and reliable financial information that helps you understand how your business is performing.
How much do bookkeeping services cost for a small business?
The cost of bookkeeping services depends on the needs and complexity of your business. Factors can include transaction volume, number of bank and credit card accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, and the overall condition of your books. After learning about your business and current bookkeeping process, we’ll recommend an appropriate scope of services and provide a clear quote.
Can you help with catch-up bookkeeping or bookkeeping cleanup?
Yes. Our catch-up bookkeeping and bookkeeping cleanup services can help businesses with incomplete, outdated, or disorganized books. We’ll review your current records, identify items that need to be corrected or reconciled, and develop a plan to get your bookkeeping accurate, organized, and up to date. Once your books are current, we can also provide ongoing monthly bookkeeping services to help keep them that way.
Can you handle accounts payable and accounts receivable?
Yes. Accounts payable and accounts receivable services can be added depending on the level of bookkeeping support your business needs. Services may include bill pay, invoicing, accounts receivable tracking, and collection follow-up. We’ll determine which responsibilities make sense to include based on your existing processes and needs.
Do you require a long-term bookkeeping contract?
No. Our ongoing bookkeeping services are provided on a month-to-month basis, so there is no long-term commitment. Either party may end the engagement with 30 days’ written notice.
How It Works
Do you provide QuickBooks Online bookkeeping services?
Yes. RightTrack primarily works with QuickBooks Online for small business bookkeeping. If you already use QuickBooks Online, we can work within your existing setup. If you currently use another accounting system, we can review your situation and discuss the best approach for your business.
Can bookkeeping services be provided remotely?
Yes. RightTrack provides remote bookkeeping services, which allows us to work with businesses regardless of location. Using QuickBooks Online and secure document-sharing technology, most bookkeeping work can be handled electronically without the need for regular in-person meetings.
Can you take over bookkeeping from my current bookkeeper?
Yes. If you’re changing bookkeepers, we can review your existing records and help make the transition as smooth as possible. We’ll evaluate your current bookkeeping setup, identify any outstanding items that need attention, and establish a consistent process going forward. If cleanup or catch-up bookkeeping is needed before beginning ongoing monthly services, we’ll discuss that with you as part of the transition.
What information do you need from me each month for bookkeeping?
The information needed depends on your business and the bookkeeping services we provide. This may include access to bank and credit card activity, loan information, invoices, bills, payroll reports, and supporting documentation for certain transactions. We’ll establish a clear monthly process so you know what information is needed and when. Our goal is to make ongoing bookkeeping as organized and efficient as possible.
When will I receive my monthly financial statements?
We establish a regular monthly reporting schedule based on your business and the timing of the information needed to complete your bookkeeping. Our goal is to provide accurate and timely financial statements so you have reliable information to understand how your business is performing and make informed decisions.
Is my business and financial information secure?
Protecting your business and financial information is a priority. We use established accounting and document-sharing platforms and follow appropriate security practices when accessing, exchanging, and handling financial information.
Bookkeepers, CPAs & Taxes
What does a bookkeeper do for a small business?
A bookkeeper helps keep a business’s financial records accurate, organized, and up to date. Depending on the business, bookkeeping can include categorizing transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, maintaining the general ledger, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, and preparing monthly financial statements. Consistent bookkeeping gives business owners better visibility into their financial performance while keeping their records organized for their CPA or tax professional.
I already have a CPA. Why do I need a bookkeeper?
A bookkeeper and CPA typically serve different but complementary roles. Your bookkeeper handles the ongoing financial recordkeeping that keeps your books accurate and organized throughout the year. Your CPA can then use those records for tax preparation, tax planning, and other advisory services. Good bookkeeping also means your CPA receives cleaner, more organized financial information when it’s time to prepare your taxes.
Do you prepare business tax returns?
No. RightTrack focuses on bookkeeping services and does not prepare tax returns. We’re happy to work directly with your existing CPA or tax preparer to help ensure they receive accurate and organized financial information. If you don’t already have a tax professional, we can also refer you to someone who can help.
When should a small business hire a bookkeeper?
A business may benefit from professional bookkeeping when keeping the books starts taking too much of the owner’s time, accounts are not being reconciled consistently, financial reports are unreliable, bookkeeping has fallen behind, or the business has become more financially complex. You don’t have to wait until there is a problem. Establishing a consistent bookkeeping process early can make it easier to understand your finances and keep your records organized as the business grows.
Financial Advisory & Consulting
What financial advisory services do you provide?
We provide financial advisory and consulting services to help business owners better understand their financial performance and make informed decisions. Services may include financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow planning, profitability analysis, management reporting, and other financial support based on your business needs.
What’s the difference between bookkeeping and financial advisory services?
Bookkeeping focuses on maintaining accurate financial records and keeping your books current. Financial advisory goes a step further by using that financial information to evaluate performance, identify trends, plan ahead, and support business decisions.
Do I need to use RightTrack for bookkeeping to use your advisory services?
No. Our financial advisory and consulting services can be provided independently of our bookkeeping services. We can work with your existing financial records and coordinate with your bookkeeper, CPA, or other financial professionals when appropriate.
Can you help with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and profitability?
